Due to the changing weather forecasted for today, Saturday, May 13th, the JHS Senior Parade and Cookout/Sunset is postponed. It will now take place on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Parade will be at 6pm (line-up at 5:45pm @ TA Lowery), with cookout, games, sunset to follow at Cougar Stadium for the Jefferson High School's Class of 2023.
We're proud to recognize Jefferson High School senior Eli Dillow for being named a 2023 National Merit Scholarship winner by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation®. The prestigious program honors outstanding achievements among top scholars throughout the country. Eli was one of the 2,500 students nationwide chosen from among 15,000 finalists to receive the award. Congratulations, Eli, on this outstanding accomplishment!

Congratulations to Michelle Hine and Marsha Lynn Holmes on being named Jefferson High School's Teacher of the Year and Service Person of the Year! We were happy to celebrate and honor Ms. Hine and Ms. Holmes at the annual JCS recognition dinner on April 26.
Members of the Jefferson High School community gathered Friday evening to celebrate the life and memory of Sara Lueck with a candlelight vigil in front of the school. JHS students, staff, alumni, and parents shared stories and remembrances recalling Mrs. Lueck's encouragement, enthusiasm, hospitality, and eternal optimism, before holding a moment of silence in her honor. 4/18/23: Jefferson High School conducted a safety drill in partnership with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. The exercise this morning let students and staff practice the HOLD call from the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). K-9 units got to experience a search in a real school setting. We want to continue our practice of communicating with you whenever law enforcement is on our campus. The Jefferson High School Marching Band enjoyed a dose of Disney magic over Spring Break when they performed at Disney's Imagination Campus! Band members were treated as honorary Disney cast members as they performed for an audience of theme park guests at the Magic Kingdom. Jefferson High School has lost its number-one fan, and our school will never be the same. I know I speak for our entire community when I say that we are heartbroken by the passing of Sara Lueck. She dedicated her life to educating and encouraging kids and inspired generations of students in our county. Her legacy will live on forever, not only at J-High, but in the hearts of all who knew her. Please join us to celebrate her life with a candlelight vigil next Friday night, April 21. We invite the entire community to gather in front of the Sara Lueck Media Center at Jefferson High School beginning at 7:30 to remember and honor this incredible educator and friend. Congratulations to Jefferson High School students Allie Hickman and Anne-Lise Bauer, who will represent JCS this week at the West Virginia State Social Studies Fair! Allie and Anne-Lise secured a first-place win in the World History category at the regional event for their project entitled "The Fatal Rivalry: The Virgin Queen vs. The Queen of Scots." The state competition takes place on April 14 in Charleston. Well done, ladies!
