October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a time to highlight the importance of safeguarding online activity from harmful cyber attacks. Each Friday this month, we'll share tips to help our students, staff, and families secure their sensitive data and stay safe online. Tip #3: Disable Bluetooth when you're not using it. Devices can be hacked via Bluetooth, placing sensitive information at risk for theft. If you have no reason to have Bluetooth on, consider temporarily turning it off. Our “Better Together” mural is finally completed! This project was a labor of love, made possible by our EWVCF grant and the artistic eyes of Mrs. Fox, Ms. Polen and Mrs. Fiolek. Mrs. Payne and I were on “installation duty” and learned how to tile on the spot. ;) Our students created the tiles in honor of us being back “in person” in school. The idea behind the mural was that each one of us is unique and special. When we come together, we can create a beautiful picture.
Well done, Roadrunners!!!
I love it!

National School Bus Safety Week is underway! Thank you to the bus drivers, mechanics, and all the behind the scenes administrators that get our students to and from school safely every day.

We are celebrating our school leaders this month! Principals are among the hardest working, yet often least recognized individuals in education. Principals set the academic tone for their schools, and it is their vision, dedication, and determination that provide the mobilizing force for achieving student success. We are so grateful for our principals who step up every day for our students and staff.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a time to highlight the importance of safeguarding online activity from harmful cyber attacks. Each Friday this month, we'll share tips to help our students, staff, and families secure their sensitive data and stay safe online. Tip #2: Don't click suspicious links. Sometimes you may get what seems like an email from a friend. But is your friend really the one sending the message? Always review the sender's email before replying to a message or clicking a link. Malicious files can extract personal data, monitor and transmit your activities, and even take over your device. Avoid suspicious or unnecessary downloads and scan documents with anti-virus software before opening. If you're still uncertain about a link, visit www.virustotal.com to check its safety. JCS utilizes Nutrislice as our menu partner to communicate daily menus providing nutritional information for each item and meal - it can even sort by allergens! Visit www.jcswv.org for daily menus from each school, or download the JCSWV app, available through Google Play and the App Store.

Did you know that our child nutrition team serves more than one million student meals each school year? As we celebrate National School Lunch Week, hats off to the hardworking staff in our school cafeterias for keeping our students fed, focused, and ready to learn!

As I was leaving school yesterday, I saw the creativity that our staff shares with our students, in celebrating and showcasing their work and learning. These are just a few examples and displays like this are beyond their traditional work responsibilities. We are certainly blessed to have this amazing team working together everyday.

Mrs. Fox’s kindergarten class completed “picture walks” with their library books and lanterns during the rainy afternoon this week. What a perfect, cozy combo—-rainy days, library books and reading lanterns! Fun!

Happy National Custodian Day to the three that take such great care of us and our school! We are so grateful for you, Mr. Hill, Mr. Baker and Ms. Watson! 💜
