Members of the Class of 2023 return to their elementary and middle schools this week for one last stroll down memory lane ahead of graduation. Thanks to our WDIS community for lining the halls to welcome back alumni from Jefferson and Washington High Schools! Afterward, some WHS students stuck around for a take-no-prisoners game of volleyball with current WDIS students.








Wright Denny fourth graders have been busy cultivating seeds for a vegetable garden and flowers. Spring has sprung!!




Today is National School Nurse Day! We're proud to recognize the dedicated school nurses who make a difference in the lives of our students by protecting and promoting their health and advancing their academic success. Thank you for all you do!


Congratulations to Destiny Cole and Kim Mumaw on being named Wright Denny's Teacher of the Year and Service Person of the Year! We were happy to celebrate and honor Ms. Cole and Ms. Mumaw at the annual JCS recognition dinner on April 26.


As part of the CKLA Treasure Island unit, 4th graders at Wright Denny enjoyed dressing as pirates, drawing treasure maps, and creating pirate names. Arrrgh Maties!




The Wright Denny chapter of Girls on the Run is working on community service by making up batches of no-bake dog treats! The girls will run a 5K this Saturday in Winchester at Richard E. Byrd Middle School at 9AM. Have fun and finish strong girls!



While learning all about geology, 4th grade students chose how to represent and share some of what they learned. Way to rock it Wright Denny!

The Wright Denny Student Government had an excellent idea for Valentine's Day. They thought they could raise money to help Relay for Life by selling Candy Grams. President Cady Carlson, Vice President Leah Higdon, Secretary Jovee Earl, Executive Reporter Mary Marcus. their fearless leader Mrs. Morgan, dedicated team players Ms. Kuntz, Ms. Cole, Miss Cenate, and Mrs. Leonard hand addressed and delivered class to class over 900 Candy Grams to raise a total of $928.00 for Relay for Life.


March 10, 2023: Due to the anticipated timing of inclement weather, all Jefferson County Schools and Offices will be closed today. Students will return on Tuesday, March 14, following Monday's staff development day. Thank you.


🎶 Congratulations to Jonathan Gutzman, Brynn Leicester, Madison Madrid, and Jordyn Conley on being selected to represent JCS at this year's WV All-State Children's Chorus! They spent several months learning nine musical selections for the event - three of which were in a foreign language! ATTENTION: The boil water notice for Charles Town and Ranson will extend through Thursday, 3/9. JCS will again provide bottled water for Washington High, Charles Town Middle, Wright Denny Intermediate, OLC, and Ranson Elementary Schools. We encourage anyone who can safely bring water from home to do so again. Thank you to our incredible staff in the JCS Maintenance Department, who worked quickly to provide schools with water today and made sure they would be ready for Thursday.

March 8, 2023: In response to the boil water notice issued for Charles Town and Ranson water customers, Jefferson County Schools will provide bottled water for Washington High School, Charles Town Middle School, Wright Denny Intermediate School, Ranson Elementary School, and the OLC. Anyone who can safely bring their own water from home in addition to these resources is encouraged to do so. We'll have updates based on the progress of repair work.
