WHS All-State Band Students posing with the instruments

The Washington High School Band is celebrating a major achievement as four students earned seats in the prestigious 2025 West Virginia All-State Band. This honor represents the highest individual recognition for high school band students in the state.

Congratulations to Lydia Brown (flute), Jonathan Hartzell (1st chair trombone), Becky McGivern (trumpet), and Lauren Rossi (clarinet)! Each of these talented musicians dedicated months to preparing for their auditions, held on December 7 at the WVU Creative Arts Center.

Special recognition goes to seniors Lydia and Becky, who have been named All-State musicians all four years of high school, and to Lauren, who earned her second consecutive All-State selection. Jonathan's achievement is particularly noteworthy as he placed as the top trombone in the state.

These talented students will travel to Charleston in March to rehearse with a renowned conductor and perform with other high school musicians from across the state. This accomplishment highlights the strength of the WHS Band program and its dedicated students. Congratulations to all!
