Members of the NTHS at WHS pose in a group against a wall holding their award

Washington High School's National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) chapter achieved an incredible accomplishment this year, earning two national awards that highlight the chapter’s dedication to excellence in both service and leadership. The chapter was recognized with the Silver Star of Excellence Award and the Core Four Excellence Award for Service, making it one of only a handful of chapters across the country to receive these prestigious honors.

The Silver Star of Excellence recognizes chapters that excel in all four key areas of NTHS: Career Development, Leadership, Service, and Recognition. The Core Four Excellence Award celebrates outstanding achievement in a single area—this year that area was Service. Only four chapters nationwide receive the Core Four Award each year, so this double recognition is a remarkable achievement.

Heather Fauble, NTHS advisor at Washington High School, praised her students for their dedication and hard work.

“This is an incredible accomplishment for our chapter and a testament to the heart, vision, and work ethic of our members,” she said. “I am incredibly proud to work with such passionate student leaders. Their desire to be involved, learn more, and give back to the community is inspiring.”

The NTHS chapter has led many projects this year that reflect its commitment to service and leadership. For Career Development and Leadership, the chapter hosted its second annual Dream Big Summit, a full-day conference featuring industry speakers, workshops, and motivational talks. They also created a school-wide career quiz during Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month to help students explore different career paths. Monthly leadership activities included team-building events designed to build confidence and communication skills.

In the area of Service, students volunteered at community events like Autumn Amazement, Trunk-or-Treat, and the Senior Christmas Luncheon. They also assembled and donated Birthday Boxes for students in need, holiday stockings for veterans and mothers, and no-sew blankets and dog toys for the Animal Welfare Society. Additionally, they supported Kidz Power Pacs by collecting food and raising funds to provide monthly food boxes for local children and families.

“These awards are not just plaques on the wall—they represent the heart, hustle, and spirit of our students,” said Fauble. “I have no doubt they will continue to lead and make a difference far beyond the walls of our school.”

Congratulations to the WHS NTHS chapter on this well-deserved recognition!
