Students in Costumes Dancing

Washington High School celebrated College Exploration Week last week, offering students a chance to learn more about their postsecondary options through a series of engaging events and activities. Representatives from Marshall University, Hood College, Fairmont State University, and Shepherd University visited the school to share information about academic programs, campus life, and admissions.

Mrs. Bivens—a Washington High School staff member and Shepherd University alumna—spoke highly of her experience at the school. “Shepherd has excellent support for students and wonderful Greek life,” she said. “The student-to-professor ratio is fantastic. Every professor I had happily worked with their students to improve their grasp of the material.”

In addition to college presentations, students and families attended Financial Aid Night to learn more about funding their education. Throughout the week, students participated in themed spirit days, a door decorating contest, and a raffle.

The celebration concluded on Friday, October 31, with a Halloween twist. Students and staff dressed in costumes for the home football game and surprised the crowd with a flash mob performance to Michael Jackson’s Thriller, bringing a lively and memorable end to the week.
