MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- A pair of Washington High School graduates have made a name for themselves at the next level by receiving special recognition as they prepared to graduate from West Virginia University. Emma Locarnini '22 (pictured above) was among eight students honored with the Order of the Augusta, WVU's most prestigious student award. Virginia Milleson '22 (not pictured) was one of 52 students named by the WVU Foundation as an Outstanding Senior in 2021-2022.
"The students selected for the Order of Augusta and as WVU Foundation Outstanding Seniors are truly exceptional and embody the Mountaineer spirit, bringing our Mountaineer values to life," said Dean of Students Corey Farris. "As the top 1% of their graduating class, their academic achievements, leadership, and service to the WVU community and beyond is unparalleled."
Locarnini was one of eight students honored with the Order of Augusta for her academic performance, dedication to research, and efforts to narrow the achievement gap for underrepresented students in West Virginia. Locarnini will graduate with degrees in music performance and biomedical laboratory diagnostics. She has served as a clarinet player in WVU Chamber Winds, president of Mu Tau, and a tutor for the School of Music.
