Important AP Exam Information "Time Sensitive." If you have a student in an AP Class, please read immediately. October 23, 2024 Dear WHS Student: Thank you for challenging yourself academically by taking an Advanced Placement (AP) course or courses. Each AP course has a corresponding examination. College credit may be earned by successfully completing the exam. The 2024 AP exams will be administered May 5-16, 2024. AP exams may be administered offsite, and transportation is not provided to the testing location. The College Board charges students $99.00 per AP exam, however, Jefferson County Public Schools is able to offer AP exams at a discounted fee. The cost of each 2024 AP exam is $49.50 per exam. As you know, there have been a lot of changes to the AP Program. One significant change is that students must register to take spring exams in the fall. There are three steps that students must complete to register to take an AP exam(s). • Step one: Login and join your AP classroom for each AP class. This should have been completed earlier in this school year. • Step two: Complete and submit the online registration form. https://forms.gle/pNF12Kvd14NSdMaTA • Step three: Submit your payment to Ms. Wills in the guidance office. Payments for exams must be received by 3:00 p.m. on November 13, 2024. Please make a check or money order payable to Washington High School. Write the student’s name on the memo line. Cash will not be accepted. Payments may be mailed to WHS attn. Ms. Wills or dropped off at WHS in an envelope labelled AP Exam Registration. College Board offers fee waivers for students who qualify. If you believe that you qualify for a fee waiver, please contact Ms. Junkins immediately at cjunkins@k12.wv.us. The following students must see Ms. Junkins (Room A-210) as soon as possible to make arrangements regarding their AP examinations: • Students who have been approved by College Board to test with accommodations (The last day to submit a request for accommodations to College Board is January 10, 2025). • Students who want to take an AP examination for a course not offered at Washington High. School. (The last day to make this request is November 10th and payment must be submitted by November 10th.) Virtual Students must have made that known by this time, so this does not pertain to them. • Students who want to take their AP examination late for reasons outlined in the College Board 2024 Late-Testing Policy. (If late is for a possible sporting event, we will address that at a later time. You do NOT need to see Ms. Junkins for those cases). • If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at cjunkins@k12.wv.us Sincerely, Cathy Junkins AP Coordinator Washington High School
