"Good morning, Patriots! Just a quick reminder that Picture Day is next Wednesday, August 27th. Here’s how it will work: Students will go to the gym with their Social Studies classes to get their photo taken. When you arrive, you’ll check in with a yearbook staffer and then sit for your photo. Once everyone in your group is photographed, your teacher will take you back to class. If you don’t have a Social Studies class in the building, you can come for your photo at either: 8:40 AM or 2:30 PM Smile big and dress your best—these photos go in the yearbook!"

The Jefferson County Board of Education announces the availability of a free breakfast and lunch each day for all students, regardless of income, for the 2025-2026 school year. Under the Community Eligibility Provision, applications will not need to be completed to be eligible for the free meals.

If there is ANY student who wants to take an AP test in May, the final deadline is Friday, March 14th before 3 pm. You will have to pay the full price plus late fee. Each test will cost $139.00 and ONLY checks or money orders (made out to WHS) will be accepted. This is the FINAL time to register for an AP test this year. NO AP TESTS can be ordered AFTER March 14th.

This weekend, very early on Sunday morning, time “springs ahead” one hour into Daylight Savings Time. Get plenty of rest on Sunday evening and on Monday so that you are on time for school on Tuesday morning. Remember that there is no school for students on Friday March 7th and Monday, March 10th.

JCS Community: All activities and events are canceled for Wednesday, February 12, 2025, due to road conditions.

JCS Community: All Jefferson County Schools (Pre-K - 12) are closed on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, due to road conditions. Many roads in Jefferson County are covered in snow, with precipitation expected to continue through the evening and temperatures remaining below freezing. Students and staff will operate on a Non-Traditional Instruction Day schedule; this is the final NTID day. JCS offices will open at 10 am; essential personnel should contact their supervisor for scheduling.

JCS Community: JCS will operate on a 3-hour early dismissal on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, due to weather. This allows our students to be in school with their teachers, eat breakfast and lunch, and be home before any unsafe road conditions.  All afternoon and evening activities are canceled. AlphaBEST after-school care and Boys and Girls Club transportation will not run today.
