PEP RALLY ANNOUNCEMENT
Washington High School’s 2025 Homecoming “Under the Lantern Sky” is just around the corner. What does this mean? Our first Pep Rally!
The first Pep Rally of the 2025-2026 school year will be held on Friday, October 10. SGA is looking for students to sign up to compete in the games! The games will be: Dress to Impress, 4-Way Relay, Mattress Race and Bubble Dodgeball. If you would like to participate in any of the games, you may sign up this week during all three lunch shifts. You may not sign-up anyone except yourself. If you are chosen, you will be contacted and given instructions on what to do during the Pep Rally. May the best class WIN!
HOMECOMING ANNOUCEMENT
Washington High School’s 2025 Homecoming “Under the Lantern Sky” will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 7pm-10pm in the Washington High School cafeteria. Tickets are $25 each. Additionally, you may go to: Homecoming Dance 2025 - School Dance - Oct 11, 2025 to order your homecoming tickets. The total cost for this is $27.25. Permission slips will be available for students and outside guests starting Wednesday, October 1. You may find the permission slips on the table outside of G Hall close to the Main Office. If you have a guest who does not attend Washington High, you will need to complete the guest form and have it signed by an administrator prior to purchasing tickets. If you are in good standing for attendance and qualify for the $5 discount, SGA will have the list of students who qualify for the discount at the table during ticket sales. Please direct any questions to Ms. Hoover in room B116.
SPIRIT WEEK October 6-10, 2025
With Homecoming a week away, it’s time for Spirit Week! Each day will be a different theme, so show your school spirit!
Monday, October 6 will be Jersey Day: show off your favorite team jersey!
Tuesday, October 7 will be Pink Out: in honor of all of those who have fought the brave battle against breast cancer
Wednesday, October 8 is Western Wednesday: show off your best country western clothes.
Thursday, October 9 is Throwback Thursday: choose your decade or century and show off the fashion!
Friday, October 10 is Class Colors Day as we get ready to cheer our football team on during the Homecoming 2025 game. Seniors wear red, Juniors wear blue, Sophomores wear white, and Freshmen wear pink.
Looking for a fun way to give back to your community, have fun with friends, and have the opportunity to earn an extra graduation ticket??
Join us on October 17th from 5-7 p.m. at Page Jackson Elementary for a Trunk or Treat. Seniors can choose to work alone or in a group of up to four. You will choose a theme for your car, dress up to match the theme, and bring candy to pass out to trick or treaters at Page Jackson Elementary. At the end of the line, the trick or treaters will choose their favorite setup, and that person/group will earn an extra graduation ticket.

An appointment to a U.S. Service Academy is a fully funded education opportunity valued from $240,000 to more than $400,000.
Last year, students attending or who have attended schools in Berkeley, Cabell, Greenbrier, Harrison, Jefferson, Marion, Mercer, Morgan, Ohio, Putnam, Randolph, Wayne and Wood counties received appointments to United States Service Academies and Preparatory Schools. Most accepted their appointments and began their journeys this summer.
We will also have representatives from local ROTC programs on hand to discuss ROTC scholarship opportunities. Mock interviews will be offered and a representative from the Dept. of Defense’s Medical Examination Review Board will join us on Saturday, September 27, 2025 and Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Academy Day is an opportunity for students, parents, guardians, and school officials to ask questions and obtain information regarding the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy as well as the ROTC scholarship process.

NHS New Member GPA Check:
The National Honor Society is a nationally-acclaimed organization that empowers, champions, and recognizes well-rounded students by elevating a culture of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Any students interested in applying for NHS this year will need to complete a GPA check to be considered for application. This process is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have attended WHS for at least one full semester, and interested students can pick up a copy of the GPA check form from Mrs. Darr in room B117. All forms MUST be completed and returned to Mrs. Darr by NO LATER than the start of 1st period (7:45) THIS FRIDAY, September 5th. NO LATE FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED!
NHS September Meeting:
There will be a National Honor Society meeting this Friday, September 5th, during 3rd period in the cafeteria for all current members. If you cannot attend, please ensure you reach out to Mrs. Darr as soon as possible. All members of the executive committee, which includes officers and committee chairs, will meet in Mrs. Darr’s room, B117, TOMORROW (9/3) during 3rd period.
