Greenhouse Production and Management students wrapped up their floral design unit on Monday. Students have been learning about the history, colors, elements, and tools of floral design. Students then used their knowledge to create beautiful arrangements to celebrate Valentine's Day.

Feb. 7, 2023: A Washington High School student was struck by a car in the school parking lot this morning. WHS staff immediately secured the area and provided aid. Although the student did not present any visible injuries, in an abundance of caution, an ambulance responded to the scene and transported the student to the hospital. As always, safety is our highest priority. We appreciate our emergency responders, staff, students, and community for their partnership and support.
Rumsey will be in session tomorrow, February 6, 2023. Buses will run on their normal schedule to transport students.

JCS is excited to partner with WVU Medicine and Blue Ridge Community and Technical College on the new MedEd program for high school juniors and seniors! Beginning in Fall 2023, this FREE two-year program will offer students from Jefferson and Washington High Schools a direct career path into the healthcare industry, including a paid internship for second-year students. Congratulations to JCS FFA students on their strong showing in the West Virginia State FFA Winter Career Developments competition at West Virginia University! Participating chapters included Charles Town Middle (CTMS), Harpers Ferry Middle (HFMS), Shepherdstown Middle (SMS), Jefferson High School (JHS), and Washington High School (WHS). Several teams received top placements in the competition, with JHS FFA's Agricultural Technology and Mechanical Systems Team claiming its second consecutive state title to represent West Virginia at the national contest in October! We have lights! In a first for WHS Baseball/Softball, lights have been turned on for both fields. Workers were making final adjustments last night. Be on the lookout for updated schedules to come out and support both teams this spring.
WHS Boys Basketball made a trip to Connecticut for a tournament. They had an opportunity to visit the basketball hall of fame during their visit.

We're pleased to bring holiday cheer to neurodiverse students and their families again this year with the second annual JCS Sensory Santa! This event gives sensory-sensitive children and their families a chance to visit Santa in a calmer, less-chaotic environment. The fun continues the weekend thanks to our student and staff volunteers!
This week, we're proud to recognize the contributions of our JCS community to computer science education. Thank you to the teachers and staff dedicated to inspiring our students in this field while working to make computer science education accessible to all learners!
Washington High School students had a fantastic showing at the West Virginia All-State Band auditions on Saturday, December 3 at WVU! We are incredibly proud of ALL of our band members who auditioned.
