Eighth graders from Charles Town and Harpers Ferry Middle Schools recently visited WHS in preparation for their freshman year of high school! Students learned about Career Technical Education (CTE) programs and electives and connected with WHS students, teachers, and administration while touring the school. National Special Education Day commemorates the signing of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) into law in 1975, granting children with special needs access to free and quality public education. Today we recognize and celebrate our incredible special education community at JCS with a heartfelt THANK YOU to the teachers and aides who serve some of our most exceptional learners. 💙💛💙💛
Thanks to the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Eastern Panhandle Alumnae Chapter for sponsoring a red-carpet event for Washington High School's Black Student Association to attend a free viewing of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever! Some students in attendance also served as usherettes through the Delta G.E.M.S (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully) mentoring program. And a special shoutout to former Jefferson County Board of Education member Justin P. Brown, Sr. for assisting with transportation. A great time was had by all!
Dec. 1, 2022 Washington High School: An injury this morning resulted in one of our students being transported for emergency treatment. The student’s family has been notified, and the injury is non-life threatening. When incidents like this occur, we recognize that our families will be concerned. We want to share as much information with you as possible while also respecting the privacy of the student involved. We appreciate the swift response of our staff and the emergency responders we partner with for continuing to keep our students safe. Washington High School Theatre is back! Join WHS students on Saturday, November 12, for Nosferatu, an adaptation of the classic 1922 silent horror film. There are two chances to watch with showings at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door!
Anyone interested in playing girls' basketball, boys' basketball or wrestling...Please make sure to complete and turn in your physicals and information packets to Mr. Carpenter or Ms. Will as soon as possible in the physical education and athletic wing. Girls' basketball tryouts start Nov. 7th , Boys basketball and Wrestling start Nov. 14th. Physical forms and information packets can be picked up outside of the athletic directors office.

Representatives from Shepherd University will be visiting our campus on Wednesday, November 16th as part of our College Application and Exploration Week. Juniors and Seniors can attend a presentation at 8:30am about admissions and financial aid. Seniors will also have the opportunity to get an Instant Decision on their college application. Are you interested in trying out for the boy's basketball team. There will be a player/parent interest meeting on Tuesday, Nov 2nd at 6 pm in the WHS cafe.
The team is also looking for 2-3 team managers. Please come to the meeting if you are interested.
