Beginning in Fall 2023, this FREE two-year program will offer students from Jefferson and Washington High Schools a direct career path into the healthcare industry, including a paid internship for second-year students. Congratulations to JCS FFA students on their strong showing in the West Virginia State FFA Winter Career Developments competition at West Virginia University! Participating chapters included Charles Town Middle (CTMS), Harpers Ferry Middle (HFMS), Shepherdstown Middle (SMS), Jefferson High School (JHS), and Washington High School (WHS). Several teams received top placements in the competition, with JHS FFA's Agricultural Technology and Mechanical Systems Team claiming its second consecutive state title to represent West Virginia at the national contest in October! Washington High School students had a fantastic showing at the West Virginia All-State Band auditions on Saturday, December 3 at WVU! We are incredibly proud of ALL of our band members who auditioned. Congratulations to the following Washington High School students on this great achievement! Thanks to the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Eastern Panhandle Alumnae Chapter for sponsoring a red-carpet event for Washington High School's Black Student Association to attend a free viewing of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever! Some students in attendance also served as usherettes through the Delta G.E.M.S (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully) mentoring program. And a special shoutout to former Jefferson County Board of Education member Justin P. Brown, Sr. for assisting with transportation. A great time was had by all!

Dec. 1, 2022 Washington High School: An injury this morning resulted in one of our students being transported for emergency treatment. The student’s family has been notified, and the injury is non-life threatening. When incidents like this occur, we recognize that our families will be concerned. We want to share as much information with you as possible while also respecting the privacy of the student involved. We appreciate the swift response of our staff and the emergency responders we partner with for continuing to keep our students safe.
